Next week will kick off the month long tutorial contest. I already have a whole bunch of prizes lined up, including jewelry, soap, and more. If you’re interested in giving a prize, let me know. You can leave a comment with your e-mail or send me a convo through my Etsy shop. If you have a fabulous idea of what to call this contest, I’m all ears. I am really, really bad at naming things. Even my children…one of them didn’t get named until he was four days old!

Ummm…I am not a graphic artist. And I CAN’T draw on the computer. So pardon my less than gorgeous and rather hard-to-read button. I really wanted to do a scalloped edge. Anyone know how? And please, post it on your blog or anywhere you can think of! The more entries, the more tutorials for all of us!

I will be back next week with more details and will giving sneak peaks on the prizes throughout the month, as well as posting a tutorial or two…maybe I should start thinking of what I’m going to do…um, yeah!

Melanie! Congratulations and thanks to everyone who entered! I’m planning on doing another contest in November. I was thinking it would be fun and timely to do a tutorial contest, but if anyone has another idea, feel free to share. I already have one prize lined up (besides anything I contribute). If you have an Etsy shop or something and want to give something away, shoot me an comment or convo me and I’ll give you more details. I’m really excited and hope you will be too!

I sewed up these pants for Happy Boy from Ottobre 4/04. This is the second time I’ve made these. I can tell I’m even getting a wee bit better at sewing zipper flies. Still need work, though! I used a cute denim from Joanns. I always, always get the length wrong, though. I guess better too long than too short!

The little birdie was part of a custom skirt I made for a trade. It’s a good thing it was already spoken for because otherwise I might have kept it for myself. I think I need to get some more solids so I can do some other similar skirts.

by posting a blog post, could you please leave a comment (if you haven’t already done so). I’m only showing one pingback, even though I know of at least three people who have linked to the giveaway. I don’t want to miss your entry! I’ll just keep entries open until this evening.

I had the priviledge of testing another pattern for Samantha of The Handmade Dress.  Let me introduce you to Miss Alice. She isn’t ready for purchase yet, but save your paypal because if you have a girl I think you’re going to want this pattern. Samantha’s patterns are so great for girl’s dresses that you can whip up quickly, but are so pretty and sweet. And I think this one is another winner. By the way, I’m not requested to do these reviews, I just think they are lovely patterns. :)

if you have a blog and you want to enter the scraps giveaway, you have to link to the scrappy post on your blog…just commenting doesn’t count. So don’t miss out!

THIS GIVEAWAY IS OVER, THANKS EVERYONE!

I’m giving back a little of what I have recieved. Both in giveaways I’ve won, and in inspiration and ideas. I thought I would give away a FRE stuffed with fabric scraps. By scraps, some of them will be little bitty and some will be really big….maybe even yardage (or maybe not). It just depends. I can promise you there will be some Amy Butler, some Ginger Blossom, and some Heather Ross! So it will be good stuff. For one entry, just link to this post. If you don’t have a blog, just leave a comment. You can also Twitter it or anything else you can think of. Just comment so I know you’ve done it. I’m going to keep this going until Saturday  Sunday night. And please leave a comment stating you’ve linked…..the pingbacks aren’t working properly.

A couple peaks at some of the things I’ve been sewing, just because I hate posting without pictures:

Better late than never! I meant to get this post up on Friday, but I guess Monday will have to do. Amy at Park City Girl is having a quilt festival for all of us who wish we could have gone to Quilt Market…like me! Make sure and check out the gorgeous quilts being posted!
I made this quilt while I was pregnant with Happy Boy. We have never found out the gender of our babies ahead of time. For the other boys, I made gender nuetral quilts. But that’s so boring, so I decided to go all girly with this qult! I found the idea online and I love the way it turned out. It was my first time doing applique and my first time doing non-crosstitch embroidery. I used leftovers from my second boy’s quilt for the border and I think it made such a pretty frame. The back (which I don’t have a pic of) matches the yellow prints and is the cutest little dress print ever. I wish I had remembered to photograph it. I just realized I’m too late to join in the fun! Oh well…I can still post right!  I’m a dork…I was looking at this Spring’s Festival!

I did not intend to take a two month long break from blogging. But this summer was so full, and every time I would sit down to type up a post, my brain would just melt and my fingers refused to type. I had lots of sewing to show…yummy recipes…fun giveaways. But it felt like such a chore. A really boring chore. And that isn’t why I blog. So hopefully, I’m back now. We’ve gotten more into the swing of the homeschool year and our schedule isn’t so full. I feel bad for the wonderful giveaway I promised, but haven’t followed through on. I still have plans…we’ll see how many weeks  months it takes me to follow through on that!

Here’s snapshot of our summer…and I promise to be back soon and make up for dropping off the face of the earth!
