-Please buy fabric!…I’m trying to resist these amazing prices! They even have Heather Bailey, Joel Dewberry and more.

-Month of menus for April…I’ve been trying to plan out our meals more and they have some yummy ideas on this one.

-Interesting article via Simply Recipes…I think this applies to handmade goods sometimes too.

-Did you know I’m on Twitter? Did you care?! I don’t do it often, but sometimes I’ll post links to contests, etc. I need followers!

-Some fun free  printables for kids…mazes, word searches, coloring pages…lots of fun for rainy WA spring days.

-I just started a schedule (as of today) and will be sharing about it throughout the month of April. Hopefully, this will not only keep me somewhat accountable, but will also help some of you who also hate struggle with schedules.

-umm…I forgot my blog anniversary….and I really was planning on having a giveaway. So I will, once I figure out the particulars. But it will be big….and exciting….and amazing. I mean, don’t expect trips or ipods or any of that other stuff that some bloggers can give away. :) But it will be fun.

that this little guy just turned two! It doesn’t seem possible. He’s been under the weather the last couple days, so he’s been a bit grumpier than usual, but normally he’s sunny and sweet. As a baby especially, everyone commented how they had never seen such a happy baby. And he really is my Happy Boy. We love you, sweetie!

 Prayers for Stellan

You may have noticed the new button in the sidebar. If you haven’t checked it out already, please, please head over there. This little guy needs all the prayer he can get!

-Praying for this family!!

-Excited to see what Rae has in store for Spring Top Week!

-Check out these gorgous Wallpapers…I snagged the button one, of course!

-A cute idea to spruce up a simple baby t-shirt.

-An adorable fabric store, linked from a blog that I promptly forgot…haven’t bought from them, but they have some cute stuff!

-These cookies!….they are soooo good. It’s the coarse salt that does it….it contrasts so well with the sweet and makes them so delicous!

-Loving the idea of this cake. I’m not a fan of pie-cherries, but I love chocolate with raspberries or strawberries. We have a birthday coming up soon and I need to decide (Happy Baby is turning 2….I can’t believe it!).

-Made this recipe again, for company, with rave reviews. You must try it, it’s really, really yummy!

 Buttercup Bag

Buttercup Bag

I knew as soon as I saw this pattern that I must make it! The only difficulty was choosing the fabric. I ended up using “potting soil” linen/rayon blend from Joanns with Heather Ross’s Mendecino as trim and lining. I love it! This is a great pattern for beginners. I did interface the whole outer bag and I’m glad I did. I feel like it adds much needed stability. I also did the pleats wrong (oops!), but really, you can do them however you want. I know I’ll be making this again. I wanted to add the cute little button thing, but mine turned out so crooked and ugly. I think next time I’m going to take the time to trace the stitching line onto the fabric. I’m hoping that will help.

More of my February sewing. I sewed a few things for me this month, some with more success than others.

Self-drafted Dress
My sister’s MIL sent me a Mini-Boden catalogue. I’ve heard many of the ladies on SewingMamas rave about them, but had only seen their (very small) online pics. There are some adorable clothes in there. I based the dress I made off of this dress. There are more detailed photos in the catalogue. I’m not sure I will wear it by itself…the bodice is not very flattering. With a cardigan, maybe, though. Still, I was pretty proud of myself for a first dress.

Simplicity 4589
I bought Simplicity 4589 based on a review on another blog…I believe it was Tiny Happy? Anyway, I was really happy with how it turned out. I did take it in under the arms a bit, as the sleeves were too poofy and it was a bit wide. I also added some length. Next time, I’m going to add an inch or so at the bottom…it’s a little snug around my hips. I might try the sleeveless version next.

Lounge Pants
Lounge Pants
I also made some lounge pants. As usual, they’re a little too low in the back and a little too high in the front! I know it should be obvious, but I can’t quite figure out how to fix that for next time (if you know, please tell me!). I do love this fabric with the crocheted trim. It looks so pretty and vintage to me. And they are wearable, at least.

Grosgrain has more giveaways than I can keep up with! I’m pulling for the Cinnamon Sticks gift certificate….I’ve been wanting a stamped necklace for a while. Click the pictures for a link to the giveaway.

Scrap Quilt
Why, yes I do! Enough for 204 scraps for this quilt, with some to spare. Granted, some of these were cut from pieces barely big enough to cut a 2 and half inch square from. But still! I have a really hard time stretching myself color wise, so for this quilt I just threw the squares into a paper bag and sewed whatever came out together. I think I only broke that rule twice (two different blue polka dots right next to each other….I just couldn’t do it!). I think it looks pretty cool and it will look even better when i rip off the binding and handsew it back on. I was hurrying to finish it in time for stash game, so I was forced to sew it on by machine. I snipped the last thread at midnight, so there’s no way I could have done that by hand!

Baby Quilt
I also finished the quilt for my new nephew. I haven’t been able to give it to them yet so sorry, Sarah, if you read my blog! Don’t look if you want to be surprised! I used a curtain from Target for the back. They have a jungle animal theme in their older boy’s room, so assuming they will be sharing a room I thought it was appropriate. Now that I think about, I didn’t take a pic of the back!  Silly me! Well, you can barely see it at the top of the stack in the picture in this post. I used fabrics from Heather Ross and Amy Butler, along with Kona Cotton solids.

Scalloped Blanket
I also made the scalloped blanket from “Bend the Rules Sewing“. It is definitely not perfect, but not quite as wonky as it looks in the picture. I used a Tina Given’s print from her Zazu line, which I believe is discontinued.

I promise….I have lots and lots of sewing done! I just need to get around to posting it. But in the meantime, I have to post another Grosgrain giveaway.
