This quilt is an aniversary gift for a friend. For some reason, I had a terrible time with the binding. I was going to do a wide binding and ended up taking it off, cutting it narrower and sewing it back on. I didn’t baste before quilting…..and realized that was a big mistake. It’s, shall we say, rustic. Very rustic! I hope she likes it. I didn’t know what colors she has in her house, so I went with something fairly neutral. I added the red stripe on the back and in the corners of the border (you can’t really see that in the pics) because I really felt like it needed a little bit more color. Oh….and I just realized that the second pic is sideways….but I’m feeling way too lazy to fix it right now.

Summer is flying by! Every year the deadlines to enter things at our local fair catches me off guard. Normally I make the limit (20) of baked goods, but right now that does not sound like fun….we’ll see. I love the fair. Things are always reminding me of the fair……mostly food smells. I grew up in 4-H, showing sheep. I miss having sheep.

I managed to sew a couple things. Not what I wanted to, since I was pressed for time. Sorry for the horrible picture of the dress. It was night and the house was a mess. The skirt on the right is the one I made before. Looking at the photos now, I just realized that I forgot to topstich the fair skirt. Guess it’s too late now!

We had a dessert auction at our church to raise money for an orphanage in Hati. This is what we bought:

She actually baked the cupcakes in the cups! Isn’t that cute! They were german chocolate and very yummy. I’m excited to try making some other flavors.

fabric designers has a new blog….and not only that, but a sweet pattern download (for free!). Okay….back to sewing…I have way too much to finish this week! Crazyness!

……..#76, Heather! Congratulations and thanks to all who entered!

….so, I made this skirt. I have a hard time sewing with fabrics I don’t like, so I used some of my favorite fabrics. Including all the Heather Ross Matrioshka Dolls. But I’m not so sure it’s “me”. If you saw someone wearing this skirt, would you be thinking, “wow…how pretty!” or “wow……I can’t believe they’re wearing that in public!”. I’m not a flashy dresser. I like lots of pretty colors, but I don’t know wear, say, quilted jackets…you know, the ones that look like crazy quilts. They are amazing, but not my style at all. Is that what this looks like? Please help!…..I definitely need it.
