Another Etsy seller, Shauna of Smiles and Sunshine, featured my on her blog on Sunday! She makes and sells jewelry, magnets, and other things. Be sure and check out her shop.

I just made these two wristlets as gifts. I was really happy with how they turned out (much nicer than my pathetic photo). I used this wonderful tutorial. Rebecka did a great job including details like topstitching that make it turn out nicely. I used some of my favorite Ginger Blossom and Joel Dewberry fabrics.

I added a couple of new skirts to my Etsy shop. I’ve wanted to add some skirts with little “extras” and I finally finished them.

The first skirt is a copy of a skirt that I own. It’s a great skirt for everyday. I loved the little embellished pockets on my skirt and added some to this one. I trimmed them with some purple rickrack from my Grandma’s stash (thanks, Grandma!). This is my first skirt with a yoga type waistband and I think I’m in love! So comfy! This skirt is a size large.

The other skirt I made with a contrasting band at the bottom. I originally picked out these two prints to make two seperate prints. But when I saw them side-by-side I thought they were so cute together. I made this skirt with my regular elastic waistband and it is a size small.

My middle son just celebrated his third birthday. Having made several things for his younger brother, I couldn’t leave him out. Though, honestly, of all my boys he’s probably the one who cares the least about things like that. Sadly, he has yet to wear his super-hero cape. He wouldn’t even try it on. Oh well! The crayon roll is getting good use though. My oldest, J, is very eager for one of his own.

Pardon the thread…I didn’t notice it until I uploaded the photo. The cape is self drafted…I found this tutorial after I made my first cape and it is very similar.

I used this fabulous tutorial to make my crayon roll.

I’m so excited! I won the DIY Baby Carrier Contest at Make-Baby-Stuff! My prize is a wrap, which for those who are not into baby carriers (babywearing, as it’s known as), is basically a piece of woven fabric. Those who are into baby carriers know it’s a comfy way to carry a baby. I’ve never owned a real wrap befores, I’m really looking forward to trying it out! Please check out their website! It’s filled with all sorts of ideas of things to make. Back to my happy dance!

I’ve been wanting to make a new diaper bag for a while now, so when my “store-bought” one died an early death, I thought it was about time. I used fusible fleece from a different store than I usually do (the other store’s changed…a lot!) and I’m not overly thrilled with the results. So many people rave about the stuff though, that I’m thinking it must me be me. I’ve had to fight with it every time to make it smooth. This time, it didn’t end up that great even after extra ironing and steam (any suggestions!). It’s still cute though. I used grey twill and blue Amy Butler Wallflower. I lined it with some water resistant fabric I had lying around. It’s more a brown than a grey, but since it’s inside, I’m okay with that. Overall, I’m happy with it, though I think I’ll tweak it a bit if I make another. I wish it was just a tad bigger and a little wider at the top. I’m thrilled to be able to ditch the backpack! I hate how it zips down so far and everything falls out!

Inside view:

This latest baby carrier has been a long time in the planning. I don’t remember when I decided to make another SSC (short for Soft Structered Carrier), but I know I bought the buckles for it back in February. But I had other more pressing projects to finish first. I finally got around to making it and finished it yesterday. It turned out just like I hoped (well, minus the imperfect stiching and the very wonky zipper!). I still haven’t given it a real trial-run, but the times I’ve tried it on, it’s been super comfy. I used canvas for the first time and while it was a pain to sew (I used a whole package of jean’s needles, minus one), I think its extra support is part of what makes it comfortable. I used this pattern  with a few adjustments. I added the zippered pocket, changed it to have the straps attach on the back and added the insert/seat. Oh…I also made the sleeping hood larger. The applique was inspired by a quilt on the Soule Mama blog that I’ve loved for a long time. I’m planning on entering it in the same contest at Make Baby Stuff that I entered my mei tai in (you can enter one for each category) so please vote for me, if you like it (of course you do! :-)
